Description

Introduction: 
The objective of the programme is to equip participants with foundational knowledge and skills in acting, directing, script writing and dance/musical theatre. It offers comprehensive training encompassing acting on stage, television and cinema, script writing and analysis, directing, movement and vocal training. Furthermore, the participants will have the opportunity to learn free and structured movements, posture, body flexibility and physical balance, vocal training, pronunciation, voice projection, improvisation, plotting scenes, etc.

To Whom:
Open to individuals aged seventeen (17) and above, applicants should possess a passion for theatre and a willingness to commit fully to the training. Ambition and dedication are essential qualities sought in candidates, who will undergo selection via interviews conducted either in person or virtually.

Learning Outcomes: 
This program provides participants with the chance to grasp the fundamentals of acting on stage, television, and cinema; dancing and free and structured movements; script and character analysis; plotting and scene development; vocal training, voice projection, pronunciation and improvisation. 

Resource Persons: 
The program is led by Kaushalya Fernando, who has received international-level training in acting and actor training, garnered international awards, and is renowned for her performances in cinema. Additionally, Prasanna Mahagamage, Mayura Perera, and Nilanka Dahanayaka serve as resource persons for acting, directing, and script analysis and development. Each of them brings a wealth of national and international experience in actor training to the program. Chandana Aluthge leads sessions focused on structured and free movements, as well as voice projection. Additionally, training for screen acting will be facilitated by Thisara Imbulana, a rising young film 2 director and scriptwriter. Furthermore, sessions will be conducted by other professional artists specializing in various fields. 

Duration and Schedule: 
The program spans eight months, comprising thirty-two in-class sessions held weekly. Typically, classes are conducted on Sundays from 8.30 am to 5:30 pm. Depending on participants’ convenience, sessions may also be scheduled on public holidays if required. The program commences annually in the first/second week of January. Participants are requested to bring their own refreshments and attire suitable for training sessions. 

Fee: 
The program fee is Rs. 70,000 per participant, payable in full upon registration. However, individuals facing financial constraints can opt to pay Rs. 50,000 upfront and settle the remaining balance in two equal instalments within the first two months of the program. Certification by the Lanka Children’s and Youth Theatre Foundation is granted only to participants who fulfil financial obligations and attendance requirements. 

Venue:
Sessions take place at the Lion’s Club Hall, Jayanthipura Main Road, Battaramulla.
